Me mbështetjen financiare të Bashkimit Evropian prej 9.1 milionë eurosh, projekti ka mundësuar modernizimin e sistemit përmes pajisjeve dhe teknologjisë së re. Pas funksionalizimit të plotë, sistemi pritet të zgjerojë sipërfaqen nën ujitje me afro 4,000 hektarë dhe të rrisë produktivitetin bujqësor në rajon.

Rreth 7,000 fermerë në komunat e Gjakovës, Prizrenit dhe Rahovecit do të përfitojnë nga furnizimi më i qëndrueshëm me ujë, menaxhimi më efikas dhe mundësi të reja punësimi në sektorin agro-biznes.

“Ishte kënaqësi të takoja të gjithë akterët që kontribuuan në suksesin e projektit. Duke dëgjuar drejtpërdrejt fermerët për përfitimet nga ky sistem modern, kuptohet qartë potenciali për rritjen e prodhimit dhe diversifikimin e kulturave bujqësore,” tha Megevand.

Ky bashkëpunim mes Ministriné e Bujqësisë, Pylltarisë dhe Zhvillimit Rural partnerëve ndërkombëtarë dhe institucioneve lokale po kontribuon drejtpërdrejt në forcimin e bujqësisë dhe zhvillimin ekonomik rural në Kosovë.

Me vënien në funksion të sistemit të rehabilituar, mbi 4 mijë hektarë tokë bujqësore tashmë do të kenë furnizim më të qëndrueshëm me ujë. Projekti është zbatuar nga Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo dhe është financuar nga një grant i European Union, i administruar nga Banka Botërore.

Ky investim strategjik synon rritjen e qëndrueshmërisë së sektorit bujqësor përmes rehabilitimit dhe modernizimit të infrastrukturës ekzistuese të ujitjes, duke përfshirë kanalet primare dhe sekondare, stacionet e pompimit dhe strukturat shpërndarëse në nivel parcele.

Përmes këtij projekti janë reduktuar humbjet e ujit, është rritur efikasiteti energjetik dhe është përmirësuar menaxhimi institucional i ndërmarrjeve të ujitjes. Modernizimi i sistemit ka krijuar kushte për shpërndarje më të drejtë dhe më efikase të ujit për fermerët.

Përfituesit kryesorë janë mijëra fermerë të rajonit, të cilëve u është mundësuar kultivimi i kulturave me vlerë më të lartë tregtare, zgjerimi i sipërfaqeve të punueshme dhe stabilizimi i prodhimit bujqësor.

Përveç ndikimit ekonomik, projekti ka kontribuar edhe në forcimin e kapaciteteve teknike dhe administrative në nivel lokal, duke krijuar një bazë të qëndrueshme për zhvillimin afatgjatë rural.

Në këtë mënyrë, IRIS përfaqëson një ndërhyrje të rëndësishme që lidh investimin në infrastrukturë me rritjen e mirëqenies së komuniteteve bujqësore dhe zhvillimin e qëndrueshëm të bujqësisë në Kosovë.

Gjatë vizitës u inspektuan stacionet e pompimit në Qerim dhe Janosh, ku u vlerësua ekzekutimi i punimeve elektrike dhe teknike. Stacionet e pompimit janë tërësisht të rehabilituara në kuadër të projektit IRIS.

Po ashtu, u vizituan lokacionet e baseneve, si dhe punishtja e kontraktorit, për të siguruar përputhshmërinë e punimeve me standardet e projektit. Ndërsa në Prizren u vizituan zyret administrative për të parë nga afër punimet renovuese dhe rehabilituese në kuadër të projektit.

Rreth 90 përqind  të punëve në kuadër të kontratës së parë janë të kryera, përfshirë edhe elektrikën dhe SCADA sistemin i cili është duke u përfunduar në afat të rregullt kohor.

Në vazhdën e vizitës, u inspektua edhe puna e përgjithshme e kryer në Zyrat e Radoniqi – Dukagjinit në Xërxë, me fokus në menaxhimin operacional dhe zbatimin e aktiviteteve të planifikuara.

Si rezultat i përfundimit të projektit, parashihet vendosja nën ujitje e një sipërfaqe të re prej 4000 hektarë tokë bujqësore.

Projekti IRIS zbatohet në kuadër të një programi partneriteti ndërmjet Komisionit Evropian dhe Bankës Botërore, përmes Marrëveshjes së Fondit të Besimit të Donatorëve, si dhe nga Ministria e Bujqësisë, Pylltarisë dhe Zhvillimit Rural e Republikës së Kosovës. Projekti synon përmirësimin e efikasitetit të përdorimit të ujit dhe rritjen e produktivitetit bujqësor në Kosovë.
